Home needed for devoted dog duo left alone after owner dies
Tragically, the death was not discovered for nearly a week, so the dogs were both worryingly underweight and dehydrated when they were discovered by the police and subsequently taken in by the volunteer-run charity.
Lurcher, Pippa, who is 12 and Blue a greyhound, who is 10 were taken to the vets and put on drips when they were first found. Thankfully they have since returned to good health and following some dental treatment they are now being cared for in Shropshire and ready for their new homes.
Andrew Newton, founder of FFH, said: “Pippa and Blue were clearly much-loved pets and it is incredibly sad not only that they the lost the person who cared for them but heartbreakingly it was not discovered for some time. They were in a really bad state, which at their age could have been fatal.
“We are really happy to say they are now in good health and remain extremely attached to each other, so we are determined to find them a home together. They are both very sweet and friendly and they could make someone devoted pets.”
Due to their ages Pippa and Blue are looking for a calm and quiet home where they can enjoy their twilight years in peace.
Both dogs are currently being cared for in kennels which FFH uses in Condover, near Shrewsbury, but could be rehomed anywhere in the England or Wales subject to a suitable home check.
